Beginning of Russian aviation
VDS Company is glad to present for you the collection “Beginning of Russian aviation”.
This is our second collection, which is gathered by photos made by the ancestor of native journalism – photographer K.Bulla, who was first in Russia being engaged in documental photographing “ of the main topic of the day, to make pictures of all, which will be necessary, high and low, not being constrained neither locality nor premise, as during the day and also in the evening with artifactural lighting”.
By this collection we would like to keep the memory about courageous people who were in the origin of aircraft industry. Indeed their unlimited wish to fly had layed the foundation to development of aluminium industry and aluminium alloy 3103N24 is the main material which is used today by VDS Company for manufacturing of advertising equipment.
It were just aviators in the beginning of XX century who first had used aluminium alloys for production of aircrafts.
In 1911 in German town Duren was produced the first lot of heavy-duty aluminium alloy called duraluminium in honor of the town. Advantages of aluminium by Duren were appreciated by Hugo Junkers, professor of thermodynamics, aircraft designer of Aachen University. As early as in 1917 from the airfield Adlershof the fighter plane J.7 entirely assembled from duraluminium profiles had got off the ground.
It was just the beginning of the triumphant progress of “winged metal” across the world and as early as 50 years after the aluminium was widely used in automotive, light industries, construction and other fields.
If in 1900 the production of light metal was about 8 thousand tons per year, 100 years after the volume of its production has reached 25 million tons per year.
Today VDS Company processes more than 900 tons of rolled aluminium per year.
